Landscape Horticulture Certification Program

About the Program

Welcome to the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association’s national Landscape Horticulture Certification Program, operated in collaboration with provincial nursery and landscape associations. We are pleased to bring this new and improved certification program, structured to maintain high certification standards and streamlined to be more convenient and accessible.

  • 100% Canadian owned and operated
  • Aligned with the Red Seal Occupational Standards
  • Emphasizes safety and safe practices
  • Delivered through Valid-8, a world-class web-based solution
  • Option to transition previously earned designations

Valid-8 is the new software solution for delivering technician certification under the LHCP. The application facilitates online, hands-on delivery. Written testing will be administered through an alternative online platform (Mettl) for all designations, thereby making certification more accessible and convenient.

Are you previously certified?

The Landscape Horticulture Certification program website offers a Certified Directory, listing individuals and company by designation and province. Those previously certified have been awarded equivalent designations under the Landscape Horticulture Certification Program.

Visit the Certified Directory to find landscape horticulture certified individuals and companies and ensure contact details, website address, company logos, etc., for your individual or company listing is correct.

Designations

The Landscape Horticulture Certification Program offers certification for the following designations:

Certified Landscape Horticulturist Technicians can be found in many sectors of the landscape industry including Landscape Maintenance, Landscape Installation (construction), Retail Garden Centres, and Interior Landscaping.

The Certified Landscape Horticulture Manager (CLHM) is an industry-developed designation that sets and maintains standards for business management in the nursery and landscape industry.

The Certified Landscape Designer (CLD) program establishes education and professional pre-requirements for undertaking a certification process, comprised of written exams and a portfolio review process, that ensure candidates who earn the designation have achieved a high level of proficiency and expertise in landscape design.

The Accredited Landscape Horticulture Company designation is designed for companies that prioritize certification as a cornerstone of their business, conduct their business affairs responsibly, value community and customer relations, and maintain high standards of workmanship and environmental stewardship in residential and commercial settings.
